Associate Professor of Cropping Systems & Soil Health, New Mexico State University

Dr. Rajan Ghimire is an Associate Professor of Cropping Systems & Soil Health at New Mexico State University. He has been working for more than 15 years on soil health, specifically soil organic carbon and nitrogen cycling, soil carbon sequestration, and greenhouse gas emissions research in diverse cropping systems. He authored/co-authored 95 peer review journal articles and book chapters, delivered >25 invited talks on meetings and symposia, and served on the scientific and organizing committee of several national and international meetings. His research emphasizes a systems approach to improve understanding of soil biogeochemical cyclings and their relationship with sustainable crop production. Rajan is leader of the NMSU initiative on Carbon Management and Soil Health in Arid and Semi-arid Regions (https://nccmsh.nmsu.edu/) starting 2022 and recipient of the Emerging Scientist Award from the Western Society of Crop Science in 2020, and Outstanding Associate Editor Award from Agronomy Journal in 2021.
